Funeral of 'Dell' Holmes 7th November 2024
The band supported the funeral of our very own Derek Peter Holmes on Thursday 7th November 2024. We formed a Guard of Honour for Dell, performed 'Stairway to Heaven' and 'Castell Coch' which were two pieces chosen by him. It was an honour to Play today and we know we would have made Dell proud. Thanks to the Reverend Rachel Webbley for leading such a beautiful service,
Presentation of Awards 8th August 2024
The Band Secretary, David Hancock, presented some Scouts ‘With Thanks’ badges to three members of the band. Firstly to our MD, David Lockwood, who 10 years ago, first conducted the band as MD and has been here ever since and we must thank David for everything he has done over that time. It’s been noted that he has taken the band through 500+ pieces during his reign as Musical Director. Secondly, to Chris McKane and Steve Harman, who in 2016 set up the training band, giving youngsters that chance to play with an ensemble but also to filter into the senior band when the time is right. What a great addition the training band has been to us.
"Gentlemen, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts".

Presentation of New Mouthpieces
Mouthpiece presentation to Sam 25 April 2024
David presented another one of our youngsters with a Mercer & Barker Ltd GW6-B mouthpiece. We hope Sam enjoys playing his baritone with it now.
Mouthpiece Presentation to Jacob 4th April 2024
Our Musical Director presented one of our young baritone players with a new mouthpiece this evening. Jacob was playing on an old mouthpiece and our MD felt he needed an upgrade. Jacob was pleased to receive a Mercer & Barker Ltd GW6-B mouthpiece.
David Lockwood says “Jacob is one of our young musicians who has a great future in music, he transferred from Cornet to Baritone and he has settled ever so well, plus he makes a beautiful sound. Welcome to the club ”

Training Band Plays at Canterbury Cathedral 2022
It was an absolute pleasure and thrill for our Training Band, to play at Canterbury Cathedral for the annual St Nicholas Family Service last Sunday. Supported by five senior band members, they provided festive incidental music before and after the service. The band were perfect ambassadors for the Scout Movement and British Brass Banding. They were so proud to be performing in such an iconic building, and savoured every minute of the experience. MD Steve Harman
