About Us
David grew up in the Medway towns. He was born into a musical family with both his father and mother playing trombone, so it was only natural that both he and his younger brother would follow in their footsteps.
He was brought up in The Salvation Army and gained lots of valuable experience playing in a wide variety of groups and bands. This experience led to him being asked to conduct the Chatham Junior Band and Divisional Youth Band. One of the highlights of his time with The Salvation Army was being asked to play bass trombone for The International Staff Band.
David joined the military in February 1999 with The Band of the Welsh Guards. This was a proud moment for him as his father was the bass trombone player at that time. After a year serving together, he moved into his father's seat where he stayed for fourteen years. In April 2014 David was promoted and posted to The Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers, starting a new chapter in his military career.
David Lockwood, Musical Director
David has been really keen to develop his skills as a conductor and was delighted to be asked to conduct the 1st Whitstable Scout Group Band in the summer of 2014. He is very enthusiastic about the Band and, being a modern man, has made himself responsible for our Facebook page.
